7 Tips for a smooth delivery!

(the larger the delivery the more these tips should be applied)
1. Make sure your delivery is scheduled 1-2 hours prior to the scheduled pick up time so that by the time everyone gets there the distribution area will be properly organized.
2. Find some volunteers ahead of time to help you with the delivery. They can help with unloading the items and fulfilling the orders at the delivery. Gianni's asks that the driver has assistance with unloading the kits.
3. Choose a good location for the delivery. Ideally indoor, spacious, cool areas are better, especially during the hot months. If outside try to find covered, shaded areas. We will need plenty of room to unload the kits and get them set up for distribution.
4. When you start the fundraiser, kit markers will be mailed along with the order forms. Set up these kit markers at the delivery location before the driver arrives to help speed up the process of unloading the kits.
5. This may be out of your control but for indoor locations access to a double door will speed the process immensely. The items arrive on wooden pallets which can be rolled to the distribution area but are too wide to fit through single doors. Check with the building janitor to see if he can temporarily remove any vertical bars that would block passage through any double doors. If it appears the items will have to be hand carried quite a ways arrange for extra help.
6. Be aware that when the driver unloads the kits, all kits must be initially separated by kit type. The driver will then count all the kits with a representative from your group to ensure that all items were delivered as ordered. If there are any discrepancies make sure the driver notes it on the invoice, which must be signed.
7. Do not let anyone who arrives early try to rush you or take any items until all the items are counted with the driver and your team is ready to start fulfilling the orders. This will help you keep track of what's been distributed and prevent mistakes from happening.
